China: Trapped Black-Faced Spoonbill Freed From Fishing Line in Lushan

On December 13, 2025, in Lushan, Jiangxi, a video captured a black faced spoonbill whose beak and wings had been tightly tangled in a fishing line. The bird thrashed in the shallow water, clearly exhausted and unable to free itself. Two anglers approached slowly and patiently worked to loosen the thin but stubborn line from its beak and feathers. After several moments of careful handling, the line was finally removed and the spoonbill was no longer restrained.

In Fuzhou, Fujian, a video captured a man fishing when he unexpectedly caught an octopus with a phone stuck to one of its tentacles on September 28. The octopus refused to let go, wrapping its arms tightly around the device as if claiming it as its own.
